Attorney Belayne D. Guerrero was born and raised in The Dominican Republic and upon graduating high school Summa Cum Laude in 1996, Ms. Guerrero moved to the United States to continue her education.  Ms. Guerrero was accepted to St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida, where she majored in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology.  Upon graduating Summa Cum Laude from St. Thomas University, Ms. Guerrero then moved to St. Petersburg, Florida to attend Stetson University College of Law, where she obtained her Juris Doctor and was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2006.

Upon her admission to the Florida Bar, Ms. Guerrero went on to work as an Assistant Public Defender at the Public Defender’s Office in Broward County.  After a short stay as an Assistant Public Defender, Ms. Guerrero moved on to private practice of criminal law, where she defended and obtained numerous “Not Guilty” verdicts for her clients with felony and misdemeanor charges brought by the State of Florida.

In 2008, after representing clients in the criminal sector, Ms. Guerrero switched gears to work for a firm representing large corporations and insurance carriers in trials against Workers’ Compensation claims, contract disputes and personal injury lawsuits including, slip and falls, motor vehicle accidents and various other personal injury claims.  Ms. Guerrero then moved into the field of Personal Injury Protection (PIP), where she continued to represent insurance companies against claims made by medical providers for unpaid insurance benefits.  Ms. Guerrero was then made partner at her firm, where she continued to represent major insurance carriers. In 2017, Ms. Guerrero joined one of the largest insurance defense firms in the country as a partner and continued to work on behalf of insurance companies until 2019.  In 2019, Ms. Guerrero, along with her husband, decided to stop representing large corporations and insurance companies and joined the largest personal injury firm in the United States.

Starting in 2019, Ms. Guerrero zealously represented medical providers against major insurance companies for underpaid and denied medical bills.  During this time, Ms. Guerrero recovered millions of dollars owed by insurance companies for improperly denying or underpaying her clients’ medical bills.  Ms. Guerrero also dedicated her time to representing individuals injured during motor vehicle accidents as a result of the negligence of another.

In 2023, Ms. Guerrero and her husband, fellow attorney and law partner Michael J. Wood, decided to combine their knowledge and experience to continue to represent injured individuals  throughout the state of Florida.

Ms. Guerrero devotes her practice to representing individuals who have suffered injury or death as a result of another person’s or corporation’s negligence.  Ms. Guerrero and her firm are fully prepared to represent you from day one through trial.
