Michael J. Wood

Attorney Michael J. Wood was born and raised in California and upon graduating from high school, Mr. Wood joined the United States Marine Corps. After earning the rank of sergeant, Mr. Wood received an honorable discharge having spent five years serving his country on numerous deployments with an infantry unit stationed out of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
In 1999, Mr. Wood moved to Florida to attend the University of Florida, where he graduated cum laude with degrees in English and Criminology. Following his graduation from UF, Mr. Wood completed his legal education at Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center in 2007. Mr. Wood then began practicing for one of the largest nationwide insurance defense firms, where his practice focused on defending some of the largest corporations and insurance companies in the United States against personal injury claims, including automobile negligence, trucking accidents, premises liability, negligent security and wrongful death matters. In 2012, Mr. Wood became a partner with the defense firm.
After working for 13 years representing major retailers and insurance companies through trial, Mr. Wood took his wealth of knowledge and joined the largest personal injury law firm in the country in 2019. During his time working for the personal injury law firm, Mr. Wood represented injured clients in cases involving slip and falls, trip and falls, car crashes, negligent security, food poisoning and legionella cases, where he obtained numerous settlements and verdicts for his clients.
In 2023, Mr. Wood and his wife, fellow attorney and law partner Belayne Guerrero, have now combined their knowledge and experience to represent injured clients throughout the state of Florida. Mr. Wood is a Board-Certified Civil Trial Attorney, a certification held by less than 2% of all attorneys licensed to practice law in Florida.
Mr. Wood devotes his practice to representing plaintiffs who have suffered injury or death as a result of another person’s or corporation’s negligence. Mr. Wood and his firm are fully prepared to represent you from day one through trial.
